MAC Patina Eye Shadow- An Often Overlooked Treasure

MAC describes Patina as a taupe brown with golden pearl (Frost), but the color is so gorgeous and complex that any description really fails to adequately describe this often overlooked beauty. There are definitely flashes of bronze in this color, and I think it plays well with other eye shadows, and most skin tones. While it is a Frost it feels more like something in-between a Veluxe Pearl and a Satin shadow. It has a very soft and velvety texture (with no fallout issues whatsoever) and it never fails to deliver. It is one of my very favorite shadows of all time, period. Patina is from the permanent range of eye shadows- so there is no need to frantically track it down.

The swatch on the top is Patina over MAC Genuine Treasure Paint Pot from Posh Paradise (LE) on NC25 skin.

The swatch on the bottom is Patina alone.

This shadow is very versatile- it can be worn in complex looks, but is equally happy as a simple wash of color with a winged liner. One of my all-time favorite ways to wear it is washed over my eyelid with a strong winged eyeliner on top, MAC Vex eye shadow in the inner corner of my eye (near my tear duct) and Mac Powersurge Eye Kohl lining the bottom lash-line, and topped off with black mascara. What's not to love! Even an A+ seems inadequate for such a lovely shade and texture.
